Maud Lewis Curator Sarah Milroy reflects on the process of building the exhibition, including what she describes as her ‘secret love affair with an under-recognized Nova Scotia artist’, how she has come to see Lewis’ work differently over the years, and why this work has such enduring power. Sarah Milroy is currently the Chief Curator of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and has had a seminal impact within the Canadian art scene, as Chief Art Critic of The Globe and Mail from 2001 to 2011, and as Editor and Publisher of Canadian Art from 1991 to 1996. Her most recent exhibition and publication for the McMichael, Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment, launches September 10, 2021. Admission is Free.
