Join us for an evening of networking and conversation as we welcome colleagues and special guests from Australia and the National Gallery to the AGH to share their programs and experiences.
Art galleries and museums have become sites for social connection, creativity and improved wellbeing for people living with dementia, with many offering specialized programs that support the abilities and strengths of participants. With a range of person-centred strategies in place, every museum’s programs offer unique approaches to their exhibitions and activities as they strive to empower and inspire people living with dementia and their family, friends and care partners.
Reception starts at 6:30pm
Talk begins at 7:00pm
In-Gallery experience 8:00pm
Speakers:
Debbie Brittian, Gallery educator, program lead and project officer of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art developed the award-winning Art and Dementia program at QAGOMA, in Australia. Debbie will be in Hamilton as part of her Churchill Fellowship research project.
Andrea Gumpert, Educator, Learning and Community Engagement at the National Gallery of Canada created a bilingual program called SPARK! for people living with dementia and their care partners that connects with participants in-person and virtually.
