Join us for an inspiring afternoon of spoken word, storytelling, and creative exploration, in partnership with HYP and featuring the legendary Dwayne Morgan.
This free event welcomes writers and poetry lovers of all skill levels. Whether you’re looking to refine your craft, share your voice, or simply be moved by powerful words, this is an opportunity to engage with one of Canada’s most celebrated spoken word artists.
About Dwayne Morgan
Dwayne Morgan is a 2023 Order of Ontario appointee, two-time Canadian National Poetry Slam Champion, and the founder of Up From The Roots Entertainment, which promotes African Canadian and urban artists. Over the past three decades, his work has taken him across the world, performing for audiences including Barack Obama, Michaëlle Jean, and Jack Layton. He has shared the stage with Canada’s top artists, opened for Alicia Keys, and collaborated with Drake.
As the author of fourteen books, a playwright, producer, and speaker, Dwayne Morgan continues to leave a lasting impact on the literary and spoken word community. His one-man play, Grade 8, is featured on CBC’s PlayMe Podcast, and his creative reach extends into film, music, and festival production.
