“Though we see the same world, we see it through different eyes.” ~ Virginia Woolf
The theme of this year’s Women’s Art Association of Hamilton’s annual juried exhibition is “Perception” and we welcome the interpretations of 23 artists through 30 works.
Perception is one of the most fundamental aspects of human communication. It is a way of regarding, of understanding or of interpreting the world around us. As artists, we respond to sensory information by translating our impressions into works of art.
The Women’s Art Association is a dynamic and diverse community of artists committed to promoting and exhibiting local visual art. Formed in 1894, the Association has played a pivotal role both for artists in the region and in the life of the Art Gallery of Hamilton. The Women’s Art Association’s annual juried exhibition began in 1896, and it has been hosted by the AGH every year since 1947.
