From plastic straws to cars, from single-use items to everyday commodities, plastic is everywhere. This year, “It’s A Plastic World” forms the theme for the Flash Forward Incubator Program; a nationwide initiative of gallery shows, publications, and festival partnerships.
Through individualized mentorship, youth are supported through all stages of their photography-based project, from conception to production to presentation, and given essential tools and experiences to prepare them for future endeavours. This year’s theme asks youth to consider the life cycle of plastic; as a commodity, symbol, and metaphor, as a means to address larger environmental and cultural issues.
In this exhibition, originally intended to hang in the AGH Community Gallery, we present selected works created by youth from Bernie Custis Secondary School, Dundas Valley Secondary School, Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School, and Sherwood Secondary School.
